“If it is true, then we truly haven’t understood anything about anything”

Quote from Alvar De Rujula – a theorist at CERN the European Center for Nuclear Research on a report that physicists plan to report that they have detected subatomic particles moving faster than the speed of light.

My beloved friend Naama Stamper who was Albert Einstein’s grand-niece used to say, in her inimitable way: Nothing brings gifts like chaos. I’m sitting in bed at 3am trying to understand anything about anything. My mom in hospital – despite her challenge to breathe, she has a translucence of peace about her that feels so disturbingly new. Why disturbing? There’s a satellite falling to earth about to land somewhere…maybe on my head –  it’s dropping faster than the global economy.

I’m in a pace of race; spinning like a subatomic particle. There’s only one place to go when it all feels so chaotic – towards inspiration. Don’t try to fathom, be still and connect. To what? I say to those smiling ancestors that seem to inhabit my sleepless nights. To who? To where? To why?  They of course don’t offer any answers. Methinks the scientists are right… I truly don’t understand anything about anything. Perhaps it’s just the way it’s meant to be.

Now, If those subatomic particles could just learn to …hurry slowly !
