About Merle

Merle Levin, is a South African writer who lives between Cape Town and Canada and has been travelling and teaching creative writing workshops in Europe, Norway, Canada, Israel and South Africa for 20 years.

She has published (in German) a non-fiction book on the San Bushmen of the Kalahari - "Spurensuche", 4 childrens' books and is completing her first novel. She has produced 6 CD's of stories for children, acted in the repertory children's theatre group, "The Playmakers", and has had her work read on CBC Canada. She has been awarded a coveted Canada Council of the Arts grant for 2010.

For the past 10 years she has co-facilitated workshops and retreats with her Norwegian colleague, bestselling author, Kristin Flood.  Together they have forged a writing system called "Write your way In".  It is a system to help one use writing as a tool to refine consciousness, thinking and listening. They facilitate writing workshops in Norway; Silent Retreats in an Italian Monastery; a workshop in Venice based on the work and writings of Leonardo da Vinci; and a workshop in the French Pyrenees, based on intuitive writing and historical research.  For more information about workshops, please write to bear@listenbear.com or go to www.kristinflood.com.
