Meditation

Meditation

My teacher says “develop an intimate relationship with your breath”.  He also speaks of Meditation “on the cushion” and “off the cushion” – meaning that meditation becomes a way of life, a constant practice to harness the wild and unruly mind and teach it to stay focused.  It is not just sitting quietly “on a cushion in a lotus position.  This is why I have included meditation in my “Messy Methods” department of this website.  The more I study and work at bringing my mind under the jurisdiction of my “higher self”, the more I see that this is the way to freedom and to true creative thinking.  This is the way to manifesting order out of chaos.
In a recent interview, Shirley MacLean said that if children were taught to meditate we would have a peaceful world.  They would be in touch with their true purpose on earth, that overrides our self-centered, human nature hunger for more more more.

If you would like to know more about my thoughts on meditation – both for adults and for children, please write to me personally.

“I've reached the moment, you see, when the movement of my thought interests me more than the thought itself." Picasso
